We are passionate about ensuring that each year we top what we have achieved before, meaning we are focused on meeting, and indeed exceeding the high standards our guests have come to expect. Situated in the beautiful countryside of Barlaston, Staffordshire, we bring magic to life for all of our guests (children and grown-ups alike!) throughout the festive period. Our events include Breakfast with Santa, Afternoon Tea with Santa and Storytime with Santa, plus a range of festive events geared towards adults.

Cast members make Christmas at World of Wedgwood come alive. They are integral in creating the magic that families are excited to see and experience. Our vision is to offer guests a Christmas experience like no other. If you would like to play a part in delivering this, read on below.

Your role will be:

  • Assisting in the delivery of our Christmas events so they run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Performing in short scenes, immersive character work around the site, improvising with other characters, taking families to see Santa and other cast member duties.
  • Helping the Wedgwood Interactors to ensure a seamless end to end guest experience.
  • Maintaining the traditional Santa story at all times, ensuring you are only seen by guests in character and not in any other capacity.

Other roles & duties:

  • Help to maintain the standards of our Christmas themed areas to ensure they always look magical and authentic.
  • Work with the Wedgwood Interactors to ensure Santa’s Grotto is stocked each night with presents for the next day.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for Christmas, staying in character according to the Santa Claus story.

What type of person are we looking for:

  • Passion and experience of character work and performing
  • Experience of acting/performance background
  • Passion for immersive theatre & interacting with audiences
  • Experience in improvisation
  • Team player, someone who wants to work as part of a small ensemble
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to the role and responsibilities

What is important to us:

  • We Serve Luxury - we are passionate about our guest experience and take pride in serving luxury to all of our guests.
  • We Fire Creativity - we are creative people and aim to inspire each and every one of our guests to get creative too!
  • We Unite Art & Industry - we are proud of our heritage and work hard to keep the conversation going through our partnerships with the V&A Wedgwood Collection and Fiskars Group.

Application Process:

This position is based in Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent. As part of your application, you will be asked to submit a self-tape. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to a second stage audition/interview, which may take place either in person in Stoke-on-Trent or virtually. Self-tape guidance will be provided on application and will include a short character performance and a brief introduction.

Requirements:

  • This is a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) from 14th November - 24th December inclusive and you must be available for the full FTC period.
  • You must be available to attend the rehearsal day on Saturday 14th November 2026 and be available for all performance dates.

Due to the short-term nature of this engagement, it is agreed that accrued annual leave will not be taken during the contract period. Any accrued but untaken holiday entitlement outstanding at the end of the Fixed Term Contract will be paid in lieu in the final salary payment. Expenses for accommodation/travel are not covered and so you will need to be able to commute to World of Wedgwood or cover this at your own cost.
