Fisk University is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Kinesiology. The selected candidate will have an active research agenda and will develop and sustain a program that engages undergraduates. The optimal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in the methods of sports conditioning, exercise testing and prescription, research methods, or other exercise science courses. A passion for and commitment to teaching students with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds is essential. A generalist who is willing and able to teach in a number of areas relating to exercise science is preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Primary responsibilities include teaching courses (12 credit hours per semester) in accordance with the schedule of classes and following the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the University and administered by the Dean.
  • The optimal candidate will also look forward to collaborations with faculty colleagues across the disciplines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Ph.D. in Kinesiology, or a closely related field, is required.
  • Extensive knowledge in Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Sports Conditioning, or related field.
  • If related field, strong emphasis in Health Promotion, Exercise Science, Public and Community Health.
  • Expertise in Kinesiology or other exercise sciences, including statistical and research methods; documented excellence in teaching; established record in research.
  • A genuine interest in employing student-centered pedagogies to engage and support the best from our students are important attributes of faculty at Fisk University.
