The Role
We are seeking a Consultant or Senior Consultant with experience in fluvial geomorphology, river restoration or hydromorphology to join our growing team. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Dartington, Devon, although flexible working arrangements and alternative locations may be considered for the right candidate. You will contribute to a wide range of river restoration, fish passage and habitat enhancement projects, helping to develop practical, process-led solutions from concept through to delivery. The role offers the opportunity to combine fieldwork, geomorphological assessment, spatial analysis, restoration design and collaborative project delivery within a highly multidisciplinary environment. You will play an active role in shaping restoration strategies and developing technically robust, deliverable solutions alongside engineers, fisheries scientists, ecologists and hydraulic modellers.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake geomorphological and hydromorphological assessments
- Conduct field surveys, geomorphological mapping and sediment assessments
- Analyse spatial datasets including LiDAR, GIS and topographic survey information
- Develop river restoration and habitat enhancement strategies
- Support the design and delivery of fish passage solutions
- Prepare technical reports, restoration concepts and design documentation
- Work collaboratively with engineers, ecologists and hydraulic modellers
- Liaise with clients, regulators and stakeholders
- Contribute to project delivery, construction support and adaptive implementation
- Support business development, tender preparation and technical proposals

- Floodplain reconnection and wetland creation
- Fish passage and river connectivity improvements, including rock ramps, bypass channels and barrier removal
- Sediment continuity and channel process assessments
- Natural Flood Management (NFM) and catchment-scale restoration
- Geomorphological support for Water Framework Directive (WFD) objectives and environmental permitting
- Feasibility studies and multidisciplinary options appraisals
- Construction support and adaptive restoration delivery on site
