Fishguard Vets is seeking a veterinary surgeon, experienced or new graduate, to join our friendly, fun and supportive team. We pride ourselves on our collaborative environment and strong teamwork.

The clinic operates across the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside and coastline from a purpose built building with state of the art equipment. We are a genuinely mixed practice, with potential to tailor the mix to suit 35% farm (mainly dairy), 55% small and 10% equine. There is minimal TB testing as we employ TB testers. We focus on a work life balance, allowing you to enjoy the sea, land activities and embrace the local community. Normal working hours are between 8:30am to 5:30pm, with a 4 day week, 1 in 6 rota which includes 3x 3 day long weekends every 6 weeks.

Our practice is independently and family-owned, enabling us to provide a comprehensive service, including our own out-of-hours care. We offer our vets a competitive compensation package, an excellent 4 day week rota (starting in Jan 2026), 25 days of annual leave, and a day off for your birthday.

We strive ourselves on our teamwork and communication, hosting monthly clinical meetings, discussing cases, drug presentations, sharing of CPD, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. In the summer, once the day's consultations are finished, you'll often find us at a nearby beach enjoying a swim and some pizza. It's a great way to unwind!

We have a team of six RVN’s (plus one in training) and three office staff to support the daily operations of the practice. Our equipment includes easi-scan ultrasound scanners, digital x-ray, small animal doppler ultrasound, Abaxis Vetscan in-house lab, Vet Imagyst lab facility, dental machine and Humphrey ADE anaesthesia.

We're looking for someone with a passion for mixed animal practice. However, we believe in supporting individual development and offer the flexibility to pursue a specialisation. A £1000 CPD allowance is provided annually, with the possibility of additional funding for relevant professional development opportunities.

The package includes:

  • Competitive salary package starting from £40k to £65k for experienced vet
  • 4 day week rota starting in Jan 2026. 4.5 days until the end of the year
  • 1 in 6 rota starting in Jan 2026. 1 in 5 until the end of the year
  • 25 days holiday plus your birthday off
  • Paid VDS
  • Package includes 4×4 car
  • Off site accommodation
  • iPhone
  • Home internet
  • CPD allowance of £1000 annually
  • 24 hr support and clinical freedom
  • Pawsome benefits and discounted pet care
