As an Area Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting coastal communities across the North of England, delivering both direct client support and leading local service development. You’ll manage a small team, build strong partnerships with community organisations, and ensure individuals receive the right support through a mix of in-person and digital engagement. You are equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and you’re willing to travel across the region to engage with communities and colleagues. You can respond calmly and effectively in challenging or time‑sensitive situations, including as part of an emergency response rota. With a good understanding of community engagement and an interest in fundraising, you are enthusiastic about developing local initiatives that raise awareness and inspire support for the organisation’s work. Key Responsibilities

  • Line Management of a small team as well as volunteers
  • Use of Data to plan work and measure impact
  • Carry a client case load
  • Build connections with local organisations
  • Outreach Activities
  • Identify and deliver client events
  • Co‑ordinate a National Fishing Remembrance Day service in your area
  • Develop and deliver a fundraising plan to meet community fundraising targets for the area
  • Be part of the On-Call Rota, to be available to co‑ordinate on‑going support following emergency incidents at sea
  • Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Attendance at the Fishermen’s Mission annual conference

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Line Management Experience
  • Ability to analyse data to support goals and identify targets
  • Experience in supporting vulnerable individuals (whether through health, age, poverty or circumstance) to achieve positive outcomes both face to face and remotely
  • Experience of supporting individuals across the following areas: assessing complex needs; completing grant applications on behalf of individuals; accessing public funds; making referrals; signposting to other organisations; mental health support; physical health support
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently, prioritising work and knowing when to seek support
  • Experience in using CRM systems
  • Excellent IT skills with good knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships across a broad range of client, stakeholders and partner organisations
  • Experience of undertaking community fundraising
  • Ability to work within the Christian Ethos of the Fishermen’s Mission
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience of working within a charity or not for profit organisation
  • Practicing Christian
  • Experience of speaking to a range of audiences about the work that you do, the benefits and impact
  • Knowledge of the UK benefits system
