As a Graduate Land Referencer at Fisher German, you will play an important role in supporting some of the UK's most significant infrastructure, energy, water and transport projects. Before major projects can be delivered, there needs to be a clear understanding of the land required, the people who own or occupy it and the rights associated with it. Land referencing sits at the heart of that process.
This is a unique opportunity to build a career within a specialist area that combines property, law, mapping, data analysis and stakeholder engagement. Working alongside surveyors, GIS specialists, planners, legal professionals and project teams, you will develop a broad understanding of how nationally significant infrastructure projects are brought forward. You will gain exposure to a wide range of activities, including:
- Identifying landowners and occupiers
- Researching land ownership and land rights
- Reviewing Land Registry records and legal documents
- Supporting Development Consent Order (DCO) and Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) projects
- Producing statutory documentation
- Working closely with project teams to maintain accurate land information
Technology forms an important part of the role, and you will have the opportunity to work with GIS, mapping systems, databases, AI and our bespoke LandTrack platform to support the successful delivery of projects. No two days are the same. You will work across a variety of projects, sectors and clients, helping to deliver infrastructure that supports communities, energy security, renewable energy development and the UK's transition towards net zero.
Throughout the programme, you will receive structured training, mentoring and career development support. You will learn from experienced land referencers, surveyors and GIS specialists while developing technical, analytical and client-facing skills that will support your long-term career progression. There are excellent opportunities for progression within the team, allowing you to build expertise in a growing and increasingly important sector.
Where will I be based? Our Land Referencing teams are based across our UK office network, with opportunities available in Birmingham and Stafford. Your specific office location will be confirmed during the recruitment process, taking into account business requirements and candidate preferences. Wherever you are based, you’ll join a supportive team with experienced colleagues around you, helping you develop your skills and progress through your APC journey.
