The Team & Focus of the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic GIS Technician to join our growing Geospatial team within the Infrastructure Services Division (ISD). This is an exciting opportunity for someone at graduate level through to several years’ experience to develop their career within a leading national consultancy, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the UK. You will work within a highly collaborative team, delivering geospatial support across a wide range of projects—from small, detailed plans to large-scale national infrastructure schemes. The role offers excellent exposure to multidisciplinary work and the opportunity to build technical expertise within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Fisher German is recognised for delivering practical, commercially focused solutions across infrastructure, property, and rural sectors, with geospatial data playing a critical role in our service offering. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours) based from our office in Ashby de la Zouch. We also operate a hybrid working policy.

Duties will include:

  • Producing high-quality maps, plans, and figures for a variety of project deliverables
  • Managing, analysing, and maintaining spatial datasets
  • Supporting infrastructure and land-related projects with GIS analysis and mapping
  • Assisting with data validation, quality control, and database management
  • Preparing constraint mapping and spatial analysis to inform project planning
  • Supporting field data collection through mobile GIS tools and survey integration
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of GIS systems, processes, and workflows
  • Collaborating with internal teams to meet project deadlines and deliverables

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree or equivalent in GIS, Geography, Geospatial Science, or related discipline
  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro
  • Strong understanding of spatial data management and cartographic principles
  • Experience producing clear, professional mapping outputs
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience working within a GIS consultancy or similar commercial environment (desirable)
  • Exposure to infrastructure, utilities, or land-based projects (desirable)
  • Experience with: FME (Feature Manipulation Engine), ArcGIS Online, ESRI Field Maps, Survey123 (desirable)
  • Familiarity with spatial data formats (geodatabases, shapefiles, CAD, survey data)
  • Full UK driving licence (beneficial)
