This is truly a unique opportunity to work directly with the largest private landowner in East Cheshire, Tatton Estate. The estate is comprised of 170 residential properties, 100 commercial premises and 25 farmsteads that span over Knutsford, Altrincham and Mobberley. We’re looking for a Finance Director to join the team to look after the financial management of this portfolio and to also help shape the development of a dynamic business that has custodianship, innovation and sustainability at its core.
The key focus of the role will be to lead on all areas of finance including budgets, business plans, financial controls, reporting and ensuring working capital are professionally managed. This individual will work closely with external accountants, Property and Asset Managers and the Board of Trustees, Directors & Executors of the Estate. This role is full time and will be based from a Fisher German office (Knutsford) although travel will be expected on a regular basis to the Estate office and wider estate. We also operate a hybrid working policy.
Duties will include:
- Assisting the client and their advisors with accounting input in investment decisions and providing overall strategic financial oversight of the wider estate entities
- Working with third party accountants and advisors, as part of a multi-disciplinary team to formulate and implement taxation and succession strategies
- To enhance management information and undertake periodic reporting to allow relevant individuals to make more informed decisions for the Estate
- Managing a continuous improvement process to allow for the simplification of reporting, allowing better use of data to inform decision making & use of data to provide benchmarking
- Oversee systems reviews as necessary to ensure best practice and optimised service delivery
- Advising clients on potential cashflow issues and cash management
- Preparing bank compliance/covenant reporting and cashflow forecasting and assisting with reviews where necessary
- Monthly and quarterly reporting to include VAT preparations & submissions, bank reconciliations, supplier invoicing and rental incoming processing
- To attend and lead finance meetings with clients Trustees, Directors & Executors
- Oversee other finance matters such as payroll, supplier management and insurance renewals
- Full P&L and Balance Sheet responsibilities, reporting on YTD and forecasting for the incoming financial year
- Overseeing the IT/Systems strategy, reviewing opportunities, risks and areas to improve
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified Accountant
- Experience of working within a multi-faceted business, undertaking capital budgeting and investment decision making
- Experience of working within an estate or a property related industry is preferable but not essential
- Experience of IT/Software systems and structures (in a non-technical capacity)
- Experience of Xero and Propman preferable but not essential
- Good data management and analytical skills
- Highly organised with good task prioritisation skills alongside a strong attention to detail
- Personable & proven experience of building strong working relationships
- Experience of mentoring & guiding junior members of the delivery team
- Adaptable to change and willing to tackle complex issues
