Would you like to join our established and driven Strategic Planning Team in Ashby, Birmingham or Manchester? We're looking for a new member of the team to help support and build the team in providing planning consultancy services. Sitting within our Planning Team, you will be working closely with colleagues across the 800 people strong business to identify cross-divisional opportunities and develop new client relationships. You will also take the lead on interesting and innovative planning projects comprising a varied workload from residential, commercial, retail and leisure projects, undertaking site appraisals, site promotion and planning applications. This is a permanent, full-time position based on a 37.5-hour week (Monday to Friday). We also operate a hybrid working policy.

In return beyond your base salary you will be included in:

Duties will include:

  • Manage and prioritise your own caseload
  • Deliver high quality work and service to the client
  • Mentoring junior members of the team, including mentoring through the APC process
  • Preparation of initial site reviews and site-specific strategies
  • Delivering bespoke advice to clients
  • Preparation, submission, and management of planning applications including preparing reports relating to a variety of projects
  • Preparation of site submissions and representations
  • Building strong working relationships and project managing other professionals, such as architects, landscape, highways, drainage, and ecology consultants
  • Engaging positively with clients, Planning Officers, members of the public, Councillors and other statutory bodies
  • Attending and leading project meetings
  • Negotiation to secure best possible outcomes for the client
  • Supporting team members with advice, sharing workloads, and working on same projects
  • Managing budgets, time recording and invoicing

Qualifications:

  • Ideally MRTPI qualified or close to submission
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Team player
  • Good understanding of IT and Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan and meet deadlines
  • Good understanding of the planning market
