The role will require at least one day per week in both our Ashby de la Zouch and Birmingham offices.
We operate a hybrid working policy, so there will be flexibility to split the remaining working days between office and home working.
In return, beyond your base salary you will be included in
- A discretionary bonus scheme
- Car Allowance
- Private Healthcare
- A generous holiday scheme which commences at 25 days with a sliding scale up to 30 days plus an additional day for your birthday, and additional days to cover the festive period!
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave
- An online money saving portal
- Death In Service cover, alongside access to an Employee Assistance Programme which includes health appoints for you and your family
- Volunteering Leave equating to 2 days per year (pro rata if you're part-time)
Duties will include
- Provide clear, pragmatic legal, risk and compliance advice to colleagues across the business, escalating complex matters where needed.
- Review, draft and negotiate contracts, terms of engagement, supplier arrangements and other legal documents in line with firm policies and commercial objectives.
- Support the development and ongoing management of the firm's risk and compliance framework, including policies, procedures, risk registers, reporting and governance processes.
- Help ensure the firm meets its regulatory, statutory and governance obligations, including AML, data protection, conflicts, supplier governance and quality standards.
- Advise on claims, complaints, audits, regulatory enquiries, incidents and client due diligence requests, ensuring matters are managed effectively and documented appropriately.
- Work with teams across the business to identify risk themes, improve controls and promote consistent, practical compliance.
- Keep up to date with relevant legal and regulatory developments, helping assess their impact on the firm and supporting a positive risk and compliance culture.
The successful candidate will have...
- Qualification as a solicitor or legal professional, ideally with around 4-5 years' PQE or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience advising on legal, regulatory, risk or compliance matters, preferably within a professional service or similarly regulated environment.
- Strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex legal or regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance.
- Good understanding of risk, governance and compliance frameworks, including areas such as AML, data protection, conflicts, supplier risk and professional standards.
- Commercial awareness, sound judgement and the confidence to provide proportionate advice, constructive challenge and clear recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across teams and levels of seniority.
- A proactive, organised and resilient approach, with high levels of integrity and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
