Fisher Civils are actively seeking an experienced and capable Contracts Manager in the Portsmouth area to join a well established construction and development company delivering high quality projects across the education sector, including schools, colleges and specialist learning environments. With a strong pipeline of work and a reputation for collaboration and quality, our client is now looking to appoint an experienced Contract Manager to support continued growth. This is a hybrid role, combining site presence, office collaboration, and home working.
Responsibilities
- Manage and administer construction contracts from award through to final account
- Oversee project teams to ensure programmes, budgets, and quality standards are met
- Lead on contract negotiations, variations, and dispute resolution
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company procedures, and industry regulations
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders
- Monitor commercial performance, risk, and opportunities across projects
- Support and mentor site and project management teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice across the business
About You
- Proven experience in a Contract Manager (or Senior Project/Commercial Manager) role within construction
- Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT/NEC etc)
- Experience delivering projects in the education sector (or similar public-sector environments) is highly desirable
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Confident communicator, able to build effective relationships at all levels
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience)
