The Maltings is a brand new 59-bed care home in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as we prepare to welcome our first residents. Fisher Care Group has been providing kind, compassionate, and safe care since 1986, and we are excited to extend our family to this beautiful new home.
Location: The Maltings, Bridlington, West Yorkshire
Hours: 42 hours per week
Salary: £14.00 per hour
Shift Pattern: Day shifts or Night shifts available
About the RoleWe are looking for experienced Senior Care Assistants to lead and support our care teams at The Maltings. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will take charge of the care team during your shift, ensuring residents receive exceptional person-centred care whilst providing leadership and guidance to Care Assistants.
Responsibilities- Professionally lead the care team during your shift, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient care is delivered
- Provide leadership and support for care staff and act as a champion for residents' safety and dignity
- Assist residents with medication, following current policies and procedures
- Update and maintain care plans, ensuring they accurately reflect residents' needs
- Conduct and document care and risk assessments
- Assist with daily living activities and provide support for the care, emotional, and physical wellbeing of residents
- Supervise care staff on a day-to-day basis and through formal supervision processes
- Liaise with GPs and other health professionals to ensure residents receive appropriate medical and clinical support
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all residents whilst encouraging a happy, homely atmosphere
- Be knowledgeable about Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults policies and procedures
- Ascertain training requirements of staff and provide advice on care delivery where appropriate
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and communication systems
- Carry out quality and support checks on care staff
- Previous experience as a Care Assistant, ideally in a residential or nursing home setting
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or willingness to work towards)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of person-centred care principles
- Understanding of CQC regulations and safeguarding procedures
- Ability to administer medication competently
- A caring nature with a genuine passion for supporting elderly people
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
