The Maltings is a brand new 59-bed care home in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as we prepare to welcome our first residents. Fisher Care Group has been providing kind, compassionate, and safe care since 1986, and we are excited to extend our family to this beautiful new home.
Location: The Maltings, Bridlington, West Yorkshire
Hours: 36-40 hours per week
Salary: £14.50 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and personable Maintenance Officer to join our team at The Maltings. You will be responsible for ensuring our brand new 59-bed care home and all its facilities remain in safe and excellent working order, creating a comfortable and secure environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance tasks throughout the care home, including basic plumbing, electrical work, and decorating
- Carry out routine checks and inspections of the premises, monitoring and actioning any maintenance issues found
- Ensure the home and grounds are maintained to the highest standard
- Test fire systems and carry out PAT testing on electrical equipment
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and ensure repairs are completed efficiently
- Coordinate larger projects or faults with senior management and specialist contractors
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, safety checks, and inspections
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
- Report any equipment defects and withdraw dangerous items from service immediately
- Maintain gardens, grounds, and external areas to a high standard
- Assist with basic IT issues as required
- Monitor company vehicles and ensure safety compliance
- Be sensitive to the needs of residents and work in a manner that minimises disruption
- Ensure safe storage and use of tools and materials
Qualifications
- Relevant building maintenance experience with at least one trade skill
- Sound understanding of main Health and Safety legislation
- Experience of PAT testing and fire system testing is desirable
- Practical, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks
- Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
- Experience in a care home environment is desirable but not essential
- Full driving licence preferred
- Basic IT skills
