The Maltings is a brand new 59-bed care home in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as we prepare to welcome our first residents. Fisher Care Group has been providing kind, compassionate, and safe care since 1986, and we are excited to extend our family to this beautiful new home.

Location: The Maltings, Bridlington, West Yorkshire

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: £12.75 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic Kitchen Assistants to join our catering team at The Maltings. Working alongside the Head Chef, you will help prepare and serve nutritious, appetising meals for our residents while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all foodstuff as directed by the Head Chef
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of all meals in a timely manner
  • Cook breakfast items as required, prepare custard, gravy, and regenerate cook-chill items
  • Assist and execute various kitchen duties, ensuring cleaning schedules are adhered to
  • Wash all pots, pans, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, and glassware
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and areas are cleaned according to cleaning schedules
  • Maintain clean all catering and service trolleys
  • Prepare trolleys for meal service
  • Keep floors clean; sweep and mop during and at the end of shifts
  • Ensure correct storage of all dry and perishable goods
  • Take out food and general waste from the kitchen
  • Sanitise food preparation areas
  • Handle all cleaning materials according to COSHH requirements
  • Liaise with care staff and residents in a polite and person-centred manner
  • Understand residents' specific dietary requirements and share any concerns with the Head Chef
  • Report any equipment faults or defects immediately
  • Adhere to all health and safety and food hygiene regulations

Qualifications

  • Basic food hygiene certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety standards
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience working in a kitchen environment is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in a care home setting is an advantage
