About the Role
The SMF 17 Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) at FIS is a senior leadership role within the Financial Crime Compliance function, responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of the Financial Crime Compliance framework across the UK regulated business entities. The MLRO acts as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities and ensures the organisation meets all applicable financial crime regulatory requirements while effectively managing risk.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the financial crime compliance programme
- Act as the nominated MLRO and principal contact for regulators, law enforcement agencies, and Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs)
- Oversee and manage Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR/STR) processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant submissions to relevant authorities
- Provide oversight and reporting to senior leadership and/or Board committees on financial crime risk, control effectiveness, and emerging regulatory developments
- Develop and maintain robust financial crime compliance policies, procedures, and controls aligned with FIS standards and local regulatory requirements
- Ensure effective transaction monitoring, customer due diligence (CDD), and enhanced due diligence (EDD) frameworks are in place and operating effectively
- Lead regulatory engagement, audits, and inspections, ensuring appropriate remediation plans are implemented where required
- Establish and deliver financial crime training and awareness programmes across the business
- Provide subject matter expertise and advisory support to business leaders on financial crime risks and controls
- Monitor financial crime risk metrics and provide management information (MI) reporting to relevant stakeholders
What You Bring
- Extensive experience in AML, financial crime compliance, or regulatory compliance within Wealth Management services, financial services, or fintech environments
- Proven experience operating as an MLRO, AMLCO, or equivalent senior compliance role in wealth management firms
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT regulations, including SAR/STR requirements, KYC/CDD frameworks, and regulatory expectations
- Demonstrated experience interacting with regulatory bodies and managing regulatory relationships
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior and executive levels
- Experience overseeing financial crime compliance programmes across complex or multi-jurisdictional environments
- Professional certifications such as ICA, ACAMS, CGSS or equivalent are highly desirable
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills
- Operating at C-suite with experience in Board reporting.
