About the role
The FIS Regulatory Legal team is a global group providing legal advice on financial services and technology laws. The position is within the Regulatory Legal team and supports the business with AI‑related legal and regulatory matters.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as an SME on AI legal and regulatory matters globally, partnering with specialists across the LCCA group and stakeholders such as Risk, Technology, The People Office, and Commercial Office.
- Guide business through rapidly evolving AI laws and regulations, implementing a scalable control environment that supports growth while ensuring compliance.
- Act as a thought leader for AI regulatory policy, partnering with Public Policy and advising on legislative developments.
- Provide specialist support in developing sustainable AI policies, governance frameworks, and trust-related artifacts.
- Advise on regulatory notices, enquiries, exams, and other correspondence with agencies regarding AI issues.
- Lead gap assessments of evolving AI laws, rules, regulations and industry best practice.
- Partner with Business, Data Privacy & IP Legal teams to advise on AI‑related contract terms in client and vendor agreements.
- Advise Marketing & Communications on draft publications from a legal perspective.
- Evaluate and advise on regulatory risks and mitigation strategies for new AI products and partnerships.
- Provide training and awareness to colleagues on compliance with emerging AI regulations and risk issues, including training on AI colleague enablement.
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity and Data Privacy to advise on high‑impact issues at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity.
- Direct and manage relationships with outside counsel, ensuring timely, cost‑effective advice.
Required qualifications
- J.D. with active membership in at least one state bar or admitted to practice in the UK or EU.
- 8–12 years of post‑qualification experience in a relevant legal practice area.
- Deep knowledge and substantial experience advising on evolving global AI laws, rules and regulations, including the EU AI Act and U.S. state regulations.
- Strong communication, research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience advising clients in a complex, diversified, global organization.
- Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects efficiently, driving complex projects to completion.
- Strong interpersonal skills, sound legal advice, good judgment, and ability to work with senior stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications
- Cyber legal experience.
- Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and risk management such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
