We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Technical Supervisor (MCS Approved) specialising in Solar PV and Battery Storage systems. The successful candidate will oversee installation projects, ensure compliance with industry standards, and lead technical teams to deliver high-quality solar energy solutions. Duties

  • Supervise the installation and commissioning of Solar PV and Battery Storage systems in accordance with MCS standards, ensuring all installations are fully compliant with all applicable MCS standards and industry regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with MCS Pre-Sale Information and System Performance Estimate Standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee site activities, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed throughout all phases of the project.
  • Utilise hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical tools to assist in installation tasks as needed.
  • Verify compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and manufacturers' instructions.
  • Conduct inspections of electrical connections, mechanical components, and structural elements to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical or mechanical issues during installation or commissioning phases.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and technical teams to ensure timely completion of projects within budget.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed, safety checks, and compliance documentation for each project phase.
  • The Technical Supervisor for an MCS installation is responsible for ensuring that installations are fully compliant with the appropriate MCS Installation Standard, Pre-Sale Information Standard, and System Performance Estimate Standard.
  • Take overall responsibility for the safety of the installation, technical standards achieved, quality of workmanship, and compliance with MCS requirements.

The successful applicant will play a crucial role in maintaining Firstlight Solar Limited's commitment to delivering high-quality Solar PV and Battery Storage installations throughout East Anglia.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 NVQ Electrician - Minimum 10 years experience required.
  • Proven experience in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery storage installations. Level 3 Small-scale PV systems (not necessary as we can provide fully paid training for this but having this qualification is considered an advantage).
  • MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) approved or equivalent certification is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MCS standards and renewable energy installations.
  • Strong understanding of BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work independently and manage technical compliance requirements.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with experience operating excavators, welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Electrical experience with a solid understanding of wiring practices, circuit testing, and system integration.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to renewable energy installations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively on-site.
  • Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering or mechanical trades are highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation manuals.
