About the Role
At First Bus, we're proud to keep our communities moving – and our engineers play a key role in making that happen. We're currently looking for a proactive and skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our Engineering team, supporting operations across our Portsmouth network– Hilsea Depot.
What you'll be doing
- You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out servicing, and completing vehicle repairs, including preparing vehicles for MOTs – all in line with our First Bus Standard Engineering Operating Procedures and attending breakdowns as and when required.
- Safety and compliance are central to what we do, so you'll also follow all Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) legislation and Group policies.
We're also looking for someone who:
- Is committed to maintaining high technical standards and open to developing their skills with us.
- Can work flexibly across different depot locations within the region.
- Is prepared to work shifts, 5 over 7 days on a rota of early and lates.
- Understands that some overtime may be required to meet operational needs.
About You
- Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (i.e., City & Guilds Level 1&2) qualification?
- Do you have a flexible approach to working hours?
- Must have a full UK driving license.
- A PCV licence is desirable or show a willingness to obtain PCV licence is essential as we will help you obtain your PCV.
