Job Description:

You will be working within teams to provide support to the Multi-Skilled Technicians, covering all aspects of maintenance tasks primarily on the 57 loco\’s & Sleeper fleet along with West fleet DMU, 08 shunters & IET required tasks with a clear focus on safety, team working, and service delivery.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  1. Assisting FO3 grade Engineers in servicing and maintaining Rail vehicles
  2. Forklift driving and operation
  3. Battery maintenance
  4. Ensuring rail vehicles are safe to be moved after work has been completed
  5. Couple/uncouple, shunt, and prepare rail vehicles when trained to do so
  6. Ensuring trains are presented to the customer in a correctly marshalled and fully prepared condition

You\’ll need to be:

  1. Able to exchange information to solve problems and participate in decision-making
  2. Able to create and maintain safe working conditions
  3. Actively participate in process improvements and safe operational flexibility
  4. Willing to work shifts including days, nights, and weekends

Minimum requirements:

  1. Strong compliance with safety standards at all times
  2. Ability to work alone and within a team
  3. Must pass a safety-critical medical
  4. Must pass a psychometric exam
  5. Ability to work in an engineering environment

Additional Information:

  • If multiple applicants are successful, a reserve list will be created for roles over the next 6 months, which may include different shift types
  • The candidate must pass an online shunter assessment and a safety-critical medical
  • Must be able to travel within 60 minutes to the depot, using public transportation if necessary
