This is a unique opportunity to help shape the success of a new operation from day one ensuring our vehicles remain safe, reliable and ready to deliver exceptional service to our customers. You'll carry out routine inspections, servicing and maintenance keeping our fleet operating at its very best.What you'll be doingEnsuring compliance with Health and safety requirements – conducting reactive maintenance and repair using a full range of diagnostic equipment and techniquesReact promptly to issues raised by the operations staff and undertake repairs on engines, transmissions, chassis, braking and electrical systemsBuild strong relationships with drivers and operations staff to ensure a smooth-running servicePrioritising your workload to ensure operational efficiencyWhat we're looking forWe're after someone who's a strong communicator, organised, and a team player. You'll need to bring:Previous experience working in the bus, coach, light or HGV industry as a mechanical engineerA NVQ level 3 or equivalent in vehicle mechanical engineeringGood understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systemsA full and current driving licenceStrong IT skills including Microsoft outlook and excelPrevious use of OEM diagnostic test equipment to interpret fault codes, identify and repair faults on a vehicle systemUp to date knowledge of DVSA PSV inspection standards and regulationsProven experience in maintaining one or more bus suppliers (Desirable)This is your chance to take ownership of a busy, high-performing engineering department and make a lasting impact on the reliability and safety of our fleet.
