About the role
The primary purpose of the Customer Driver Instructor is to ensure all drivers and trainee drivers develop and maintain the necessary competence to safely operate the trains Lumo Stirling run, keeping to a strict schedule whilst keeping customers and colleagues safe. To achieve this, driver instructors produce and deliver training both in the classroom and through practical handling on trains. Instructors assess competence, carry out assessments and coaching interventions. Instructors are also called on to carry out briefings, incident investigations, and take part in on-call duties.
The broader purpose of the Customer Driver Instructor role includes promoting safety, punctuality, security, information, cleanliness and customer service through all avenues; challenging poor practice and recognising excellent performance. Instructors may be required to carry out customer service duties as and when required and model customer ambassador qualities to colleagues both within and outside of the driver function. Instructors act as role models for Apprentice Customer Drivers, Trainee Customer Drivers and Customer Drivers. They demonstrate a passion for operational excellence, an engaging personality and a strong sense of pride in delivering industry leading customer experience in line with our customer needs.
