SPS was formed in 2016 and serves the passenger transport needs of the EDF Nuclear Project at Hinkley Point C (HPC) in Bridgwater, the largest construction project in Europe. We are the only transport provider for the thousands of people who go to the construction site daily to work or visit. We are now bringing this experience to Sizewell C in Suffolk, providing safe, reliable, and efficient transport for its workforce.

Engineering Team

Our heroic Engineering Team is integral to the success of our business. Working at our 10 bay vehicle maintenance unit, you will be part of a team providing high quality inspection, maintenance, electrical, diagnostic and repair services for a current fleet of 200 modern coaches, single and double deck buses ensuring safe and reliable vehicles are available at all times.

Salary £29.62ph

Specific Hours Average 42hrs per week working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. 12hr shifts, alternating 4 days (0630 – 1900) & 4 nights (1830 – 0700)

Summary of key duties & responsibilities

  • To be part of a team providing MOT preparation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, diagnostic and repair services to a varied PCV fleet
  • To maintain a clear understanding of vehicle inspection standards and compliance requirements
  • To follow all procedures to control and monitor parts usage and stock control
  • As part of the engineering team, to be consistently proactive in ensuring that PVR (peak vehicle requirement) is achieved

Essential requirements

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or C&G equivalent or above in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (PCV preferred)
  • Possession of a full driving licence
  • At least two years relevant, recent and demonstrable post training experience in heavy vehicle engineering (preferably PCV)
  • The ability to apply consistently high standards of technical judgement
  • A pragmatic and proactive can‑do attitude to short notice workshop deadlines
  • A flexible approach to working hours as we are a 24/7 business

Desirable

  • PCV Electrical system aptitude and experience in the bus industry
  • Category D licence holder
  • Possession of IRTEC licence; Inspection and/or Service Maintenance Technician
  • Good electrical and diagnostic ability
  • Knowledge of the transport sector
