About the Team
The Programme Management Office (PMO) plays a central role within our Programmes Directorate. We provide the structure, support, and oversight that keep projects on track - ensuring consistency across our programmes and projects. Acting as the hub for governance, delivery support, and performance reporting, the PMO drives successful outcomes and enables our teams to deliver real impact.
Overview of the Role
We are looking for a Senior PMO Technical Systems Manager to lead the development and continuous improvement of the systems and tools that support enterprise-wide portfolio, programme, and project management. This role connects PMO governance with technology, ensuring we have the right digital capabilities, data structures, and reporting solutions to support informed decision-making and consistent delivery across GWR.
Your main responsibilities:
- Lead the PMO systems roadmap and implement PPM tools integrated with existing platforms such as BI/Power Platform and DocuSign.
- Act as a subject matter expert for all PMO systems, driving automation, innovation, and the use of emerging technologies including AI.
- Manage relationships with IT, Finance, system users, and system suppliers, translating requirements into system enhancements.
- Ensure systems align with PMO governance, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain advanced BI dashboards and lead data quality initiatives to provide accurate, actionable insights.
- Manage system supplier relationships by conducting weekly and periodic system development, performance, and product backlog reviews and bug resolution.
- Implement robust access controls, audit trails, and data retention policies in PMO systems.
- Maintain and review periodically system documentation, training materials, and support guides.
What we're looking for:
We'd love to hear from you if you have experience and confidence in:
- Systems integration, data architecture, and automation.
- Microsoft Planner β formally known as Project For The Web.
- Microsoft Dataverse, SharePoint, Power Automate/Flow and Dynamics 365 delivering Power Apps supporting both canvas and model-driven app development.
- Use of AI Builder and/or Copilot Studio to fulfil our long-term AI strategy.
- Managing PMO systems, tools, or platforms at enterprise level.
- Implementing and/or optimising PPM tools and reporting environments.
- Portfolio, programme, and project management disciplines.
What you'll bring:
- Power BI data analyst certification or equivalent.
- Advanced MS Excel skills including knowledge of VBA and SQL.
- Data modelling with Power BI, intermediate DAX & Time intelligence or equivalent.
- Microsoft Power Platform App Maker or equivalent.
- API Design and Fundamentals or equivalent.
- MS Certification in designing and implementing an Azure AI solution β desirable.
- Prince2 foundation or equivalent β desirable.
