Who are we? First Rail Stirling is a brand-new enterprise and start-up rail operator that will run an exciting long-haul train service crossing the entire country. The service will run from London to Stirling, reuniting Stirling with a direct service to the West Coast of England during the day. We are transforming the way people think about train travel, empowering our team from different backgrounds to make it a great experience for our customers. About the role: Our Qualified Customer Driver role is for those passionate about customer service. Customer Drivers play a crucial role in setting a new standard for rail in the 21st Century, which is focused on creating a safe, healthy, and environmentally sustainable experience for our customers and colleagues. In addition to driving our customers to their destinations, giving amazing customer service, we expect our Customer Drivers to follow the correct procedures and work with colleagues to ensure our services run efficiently. The primary role of the Customer Driver is to safely operate the trains Lumo-Stirling run, keeping to a strict schedule whilst ensuring the safety of customers and colleagues. The Customer Driver will promote safety, punctuality, security, information, cleanliness, and customer service through all avenues, challenging poor practice and recognising excellent performance. At the same time, the Customer Driver will carry out the role of an ambassador and customer service duties as required, promoting the Lumo-Stirling image and delivering a great customer experience at all times.

About you: Do you have fantastic time management skills with the ability to work alone and focus on safety? Are you able to follow instructions when the need for safety is paramount? Do you have excellent communication skills and enjoy working within an environment with strict procedures and protocols? Do you enjoy assisting colleagues and customers in the interests of safety and customer service? If so, this role could be an excellent career opportunity for you! You will be a qualified Customer Driver holding the European Train Driving Licence. You will be qualified to drive 222 trains although you may be required to drive other types of trains, and training will be provided. You will be able to operate tablets and other electronic devices required in the course of the Customer Driver's duties. Additionally, you will need to hold a successful and valid DBS check certificate.

As a minimum you will need to have:

  • You must be 21 years of age or older as this is an industry requirement.
  • You must hold a European Train Driving Licence.
  • You will need to live within 60 minutes travel time to the depot, which is located at Stirling, without using public transport when it is not available.
  • The ability to work shifts of varying start times, including weekends and night shifts.

About the location: You will need to live within a 60 minute commute to Stirling.
