We are recruiting for a Planning, Performance and Resource Analyst. What you will be expected to deliver:

  • Through a full understanding of train planning principles, produce, issue, and distribute robust, efficient diagrams that adhere to all train planning parameters.
  • Develop plans for amended schedules in response to Network Rail possessions, including provision for replacement buses as directed by the Planning & Performance Manager.
  • Maintain records and forecasts to support other areas of the business such as engineers and reservations teams, and external partners.
  • Provide ‘off the shelf' timetables for seasonal variation and restricted access scenarios.
  • Act as the focal point for all short- and medium-term access planning.
  • Support the work of the Planning & Performance Manager by attending meetings and retaining familiarity with the possession strategy and performance of the timetable.
  • Advise East Coast Digital Railway lead on Performance and Timetable issues.
  • Actively participate and contribute to performance improvement of the train service.
  • Assist with other activities within the Operations & Customer Experience Team as required.
  • Produce weekly Engineering Work Circulars for National Rail.
  • Produce amended train crew diagrams adhering to the company's Terms and Conditions.
  • Meeting Short Term and Very Short-Term Planning requirements.
  • Deputise for the Planning and Performance Manager as required.
  • Produce short term rosters in line with amended timetables to ensure resource is planned on a short-term basis.
  • Provide cross cover for the Resourcing Assistant, familiarising yourself with their work activity.
  • Provide support to the wider office and assist with ad hoc projects when required.
  • Provide Onboard Manager contingency support duties.
  • Carry out On Call duties.

The knowledge or experience you will need:

  • Educated to a good standard (A level or above).
  • A good understanding of train planning principles, performance and resource planning techniques.
  • A comprehensive understanding of rostering principles, terms & conditions and roster development.
  • Onboard Manager (Guard) competency or willingness to train towards.
  • An excellent working understanding of Voyager Plan and ability to construct reports and improve report presentation and readability.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with all levels of staff, internally and externally.
  • Able to demonstrate an excellent level of computer literacy (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
