As a Driver Learning Manager (Training), you\’ll deliver a wide range of training and assessment, predominantly to drivers, but also to other grades in the business. You\’ll be at the forefront of delivering huge transformation to our internal and external customers as we deliver traction conversions, initial driver training and additional development sessions to our driver community.
Your main responsibilities will be:
To deliver learning, development and assessments across locations business wide that meet current Great Western Railway and railway group standards.
To manage trainee drivers during initial training ensuring high standards are consistently attained.
To collaborate with operational colleagues to keep them updated on the progress of trainees prior to completion of academy‐based training.
To deliver all aspects of training to drivers, trainees and other operational grades as directed.
To maintain accurate records of training and give great feedback.
To work with the Training Policy Team to develop and maintain training programmes.
You\’ll need to be:
Passionate about delivering high quality training sessions.
Able to work as part of a team with the initiative to work unsupervised.
Organised, punctual and capable of working flexible hours throughout locations in Great Western Railway, including Bristol, Exeter, Newton Abbot, Plymouth and Reading.
Literate in the primary Office 365 applications, with attention to detail.
As a minimum you\’ll need to have:
Previous experience of training or coaching.
At least 3 years main line train driving experience.
Suitable qualifications in training and assessment.
About the location:Reporting into Reading Driver Training Academy, your work will take you across the network and travel will be required as mentioned above.
Working Pattern:You will mostly work Monday‐Friday, however weekend and bank holiday work is required when necessary and early and late training and assessment schedules mean \”out of hours\” training is common. Flexibility will be required to meet business needs.

You will need to be able to structure your workload, plan effectively and be committed to delivering excellence, while being well‐organised, self‐motivated and able to use your initiative.
