Location: Ipswich

We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Travel Shop Assistant to join our team in Ipswich on a part‑time basis. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public and providing excellent customer service in a busy, community‑facing environment. You’ll be the first point of contact for customers, both face to face and over the phone, supporting a wide range of enquiries and tasks, including:

  • Providing First Bus information, routes, and ticket sales
  • Handling customer enquiries and dealing with complaints professionally
  • Taking payments via cash and card, including managing the cash float
  • Managing lost property enquiries, face to face and logging items on Tracerit
  • Printing and providing timetables for customers
  • Carrying out security checks for the Elavon card payment machine and updating spreadsheets
  • Reading, responding to, and managing emails
  • Keeping the office and public areas clean and tidy
  • Reporting any building or maintenance issues
  • Ordering supplies such as printer ink and stationery

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in customer service, retail, or travel is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and helpful advice
  • Willingness to learn about bus routes, schedules, and the local transport network
  • Confidence in handling cash and processing card payments
  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
  • A positive, approachable attitude and a strong focus on customer experience
