Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic
Location: Ipswich, IP4 1AD
Contract: 39 hours per week - permanent & full time
Working Hours: 5 days over 7 - rotating schedule of 07:00-15:00 one week then 12:00-20:00 the next week
Hourly Rate: £20.12 per hour with a weekend premium rate of £21.14 per hour
Salary: Approx. £40,803 per annum
About the Role
Do you want to be part of our dedicated team of mechanical engineers and maintenance staff repairing our fleet of buses? We’re looking for skilled and forward-thinking people to join our busy Engineering team at Ipswich. We offer technical up-skilling and career progression, we'll also provide your PPE and basic tools you'll need to succeed in your role, as well as a competitive hourly rate and great rewards & benefits.
We are looking for NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Engineers – preferably in heavy vehicle or PSV mechanical maintenance, however we also welcome applications from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults, servicing, and replacing parts as needed
- Identifying issues accurately and recommending the correct method of repair and parts required
- Performing routine inspections and servicing using handheld data capture devices (where applicable)
- Attending roadside breakdowns and supporting vehicle recoveries
About You:
- Do you have a minimum of a Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent qualification in vehicle mechanics?
- Do you have a valid UK driver's licence?
- A PCV licence is desirable, ability to obtain PCV licence is essential (we will help you obtain this)
- Experience of working with buses & coaches would be an advantage, but any vehicle mechanic experience will be considered (HGV)
