Position: PSV/HGV Mechanical Fitter

Location: Chelmsford depot, Westway, CM1 3AR

Contracted Hours: 39 per week (permanent + overtime available)

Shifts: 4 days out of 7 (including weekends) on a rotation of early shifts 05:00-15:00 and late shifts 14:30-00:30

Pay Rate: £24.03 per hour and £25.07 as the weekend premium

Do you want to be part of our dedicated team of mechanical engineers and maintenance staff repairing our fleet of buses across Chelmsford? We are looking for NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified Engineers – preferably with HGV or PSV experience, however we also welcome applications from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other sectors looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement
  • Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used
  • Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable
  • Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries where required
  • Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair
About You:
  • Do you have a minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair – PSV/HGV preferred?
  • Do you have a flexible approach to work with the ability to multi-skill?
  • Are you a UK driving license holder? A PCV license is desirable however we can help you achieve this.
