We have a fantastic Opportunity for a Performance Supervisor to join our Operations department in Chelmsford on a full-time permanent basis.

The successful candidate will support the Operations Manager in the delivery of On Time Performance objectives through using service performance related business systems and processes; ensuring a safe, punctual, reliable and cost-effective delivery of services, within the operational excellence framework.

You will analyse and manage information, systems and data, in accordance with the systems matrices, to both retrospectively and proactively ensure continuous improvement of service performance.

Manage the flow of services along route, using appropriate channels to communicate messages to drivers and the commercial team to proactively manage and improve service performance.

Engage front line colleagues though effective communication, active listening and recognition

  • The Day to Day
  • Monitor and proactively manage service punctuality and reliability, through the use of systems highlighted in the systems matrices, including live management of services to ensure continuous improvement of service performance.
  • Create alternative disruption plans; liaising with and providing information to all relevant colleagues, ensuring the business is informed of planned and non-planned major events effecting operations.
  • Regularly update and maintain on time performance systems.
  • Ensure processes are in place to identify system and vehicle equipment faults, work closely with appropriate individuals including business system providers to rectify issues within agreed and defined timeframes.
  • Live input of lost/additional mileage when dealing with unexpected events (eg breakdowns).
  • Work alongside depot operational and engineering team members, fostering excellent working relationships to effectively manage all aspects of service performance, including vehicle allocation, breakdowns, changeovers and punctuality and reliability of services.
  • Provide support to drivers, giving information and direction in a timely manner.
  • Prepare, distribute and analyse management information to improve on time performance.
  • Maintain accurate records for all aspects of punctuality performance.
  • Improve operational performance in a sustainable manner, with a key focus on managing reliability and on time performance, resulting in delivery of agreed key performance indicators.
  • Carry out investigations of incidents and prepare reports detailing findings and recommendation.
  • Ensure a comprehensive hand-over and coordination across shifts.
  • Work alongside depot operational and engineering team members, fostering excellent working relationships between drivers and Supervisors to ensure a consistent customer experience.
  • Comply with requisition to pay procedures and delegated authorities.
  • Ensure an effective working relationship with recognised trade union representatives and officials.
  • Other duties commensurate with the role as may be deemed appropriate by the line manager.
