Job Purpose: Firstco is a UK-based systems engineering company specialising in mission‐critical control, communication, and automation systems across transportation, aviation, and other critical infrastructure environments such as data centres. We are expanding our Systems Engineering and Assurance capability and are recruiting a Junior Systems Assurance Engineer to support the delivery of systems assurance, requirements management, verification and validation activities across major infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an engineer with 15 years experience who is seeking to deepen their expertise in assurance and systems engineering. You will work alongside experienced Systems Engineers and Assurance Leads, gaining exposure to complex, safety‐critical and highly regulated environments.
Example Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supporting the development of Systems Engineering and Assurance documentation, including plans, strategies, and compliance matrices.
- Assisting with requirements engineering activities, including elicitation, analysis, allocation, and traceability.
- Contributing to assurance reviews, audits, and compliance assessments.
- Supporting the creation and maintenance of Requirements Management databases.
- Contributing to Verification & Validation (V&V) planning and evidence collation.
- Supporting RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) and system safety assurance tasks under supervision.
- Participating in configuration management activities throughout the systems lifecycle.
- Supporting FAT, SAT and commissioning activities for control and communication systems.
- Working collaboratively with multi‐discipline engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and client representatives.
- Assisting in the production of technical reports, meeting minutes, and assurance evidence.
Due to the nature of Firstco's projects, some work may occasionally be required during night shifts or weekends to meet operational constraints. This will be planned and infrequent, with the role being predominantly weekday‐based.
Desired Skills And Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject (Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, etc.) or equivalent experience.
- 15 years experience in engineering, systems engineering, assurance, integration, or related technical roles.

- Awareness of systems engineering and quality standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 9001 (desirable).

- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a multi‐discipline team.
- A proactive, detail‐oriented, and organised approach to work.
- Experience working within major infrastructure projects (desirable but not essential).
