We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk Manager to join the team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Location: London (Hybrid) – 3 days in the office, 2 days from home
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Operational Risk in day-to-day management of operational risk as part of the second line of defense, including risk identification, assessment, management, monitoring and reporting.
- Lead activities such as Operational Risk Event reporting and error resolution, Risk and Control Assessments, Business/project risk assessments, Key Risk Indicators, and operational risk training for first line risk owners.
- Undertake and document Control Assurance Testing (CAT) linked to RCAs and risk events.
- Coordinate, monitor and report on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the Bank.
- Assist the first line of defense with preparation and documentation of RCAs for areas within the Bank.
- Assist the first line with investigation of Risk Events and preparation of reports; maintain risk event and risk issues logs and escalate as required.
- Prepare monthly MI reporting for the Risk Management Committee.
- Contribute to embedding the operational risk framework across business areas and promote risk and control culture through knowledge sharing and awareness.
- Influence and monitor progress of action plans to improve the risk and control environment arising from risk events, risk issues, RCAs, risk monitoring, audits and regulatory inspections.
- Investigate and escalate breaches or risks of foreseeable harm via the risk events process.
Key Skills / Experience:
- Operational Risk Management experience within a bank.
- Broad and deep OP risk management experience to make critical assessments and sound decisions.
- Experience in Financial Services operational risk function, ideally within IT, Finance or Regulatory Reporting.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, attention to detail and proficient Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
