Due to business requirements, we are now looking to acquire the services of an experienced Operational Risk Manager to support the business, management and oversight of operational risk within the Bank from a second-line perspective.

Please note that this is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Operational Risk within second line of defence (2LOD) in the day-to-day management of operational risk and its ongoing enhancement.
  • Undertake and document Control Assurance Testing (CAT) linked to RCSAs & risk events.
  • Co-ordinate, monitor, and report on a framework of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the Bank.
  • Assist the first line of defense in the preparation and documentation of their Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs) for all areas within the Bank and transition to being a strong second line challenger of first line of defence’s outputs.
  • Assist the first line of defence (1LOD) with the investigation of Risk Events and preparation of reports.
  • Maintain both the risk event and risk issues logs, monitoring progress and escalating as required.
  • Compile meaningful monthly MI reporting and packs for the Risk Management Committees which provide solid conclusions, analysis and messages to support sound risk management decisions.
  • Influence and monitor progress of action plans to improve the risk and control environment arising from internal and external risk events, risk issues, RCSAs, risk monitoring, internal and external audits, and regulatory inspections and ensure remediation measures are supported, challenged, fit for purpose and proportionate.
  • Investigate and escalate breaches or risks of foreseeable harm via the risk events process, KRIs and other outputs of the ORMF.
  • Give quality advice, guidance, training and independent and credible views of the operational risk profile to the business lines.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Strong, proven operational risk experience within banking and/or financial services.
  • Previous experience in a similar operational risk management role.
  • Experience of execution of operational risk management processes.
  • Strong quantitative & qualitative analytical skillset including excellent attention to detail & strong Excel skills.
  • Experience providing solid challenge to 1LOD with regard to risk identification, assessment and mitigation.
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management experience.
  • Excellent time management skills in order to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Knowledge of GRC tools, their implementation and maintenance would be advantageous.
