Our client, a well-established organisation specialising within the Energy, Engineering and Oil & Gas sector, is actively looking to hire a Logistics & Materials Lead to be based from their site in Barrow-In-Furness, Cumbria.

Location: Barrow-In-Furness, Cumbria

Duration: 2 YEAR CONTRACT

Day Rates: Competitive Day Rates - Inside IR35

Hybrid Working: 3 to 4 Days onsite.

Job Responsibilities:

Purpose Statement: The job holder will act as the interface between the business and contracted logistics service providers, ensuring that the business' logistics needs are met in a safe and cost-effective manner, managing the delivery of logistics services (helicopters, marine, shore-based) and inventory management activities, overseeing the relevant onsite contractor personnel (warehouse and quayside).

The job holder will be responsible for the management and maintenance of material movements, working closely with the business to ensure correct processing of material movements and returns.

Key Deliverables:

  • Manage end-to-end logistics operations and material movements (marine, aviation, road, and quayside)
  • Own and manage relevant contracts, ensuring value delivery and innovation
  • Manage third-party providers including vessel owners, aviation providers, and warehouses
  • Monitor contractor performance, KPIs, and service delivery
  • Maintain accurate tracking and records of all logistics and material movements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders

Inventory & Materials Management:

  • Manage warehouse and supply base operations, including third-party providers
  • Oversee material handling, storage, and disposal processes
  • Optimise inventory levels to meet operational needs while minimising excess
  • Manage movement of materials between onshore and offshore locations
  • Ensure inventory recovery and compliance with disposal policies

Logistics & Operations:

  • Manage aviation logistics, including helicopter bookings and personnel compliance
  • Oversee marine vessel chartering, including ad-hoc and anchor handling vessels
  • Optimise vessel and helicopter scheduling to maximise efficiency and reduce cost
  • Coordinate movement of personnel, equipment, and materials to/from offshore assets
  • Ensure safe and efficient execution of offshore transport operations
  • Maintain flight logs, capacity utilisation, and operational records
  • Support mobilisation and demobilisation of rigs and vessels
  • Ensure emergency response logistics resources are available
  • Participate in on-call rota for operational support

Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies, customs regulations, and assurance processes
  • Work with Legal, Tax, Risk, and Finance on disposal and resale compliance
  • Govern material usage (e.g. end-use controls, OCTG support)
  • Ensure compliance with customs, legal, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as Technical Assurance (TA) for marine and aviation logistics
  • Ensure hazardous materials are handled in line with regulations
  • Maintain governance over bonded materials and end-use controls

Any other associated duties as reasonably required.

Competence & Qualifications:

  • Experience with contracts activities (strategy, sourcing, contracts management, etc.)
  • Experienced in marine operations planning.
  • Experienced in aviation operations planning.
  • Competent user of business systems, SAP, MS Office.
  • Good organisation skills, ability to prioritise work and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of appropriate legislation, best practices and guidelines.
  • Ability to manage 3rd parties to deliver in line with business expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Relevant experience may compensate for formal education
  • Vantage system - Admin Training
  • Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Sea and Air
  • Offshore certification (BOSIET, MIST, Medical, etc.) preferred but not essential
