We are working in partnership with a leading engineering business to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Trafford Park, on a Permanent Staff basis
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS with a strong background in Mechanical and Electrical projects and experience working with NEC contracts.
You will play a key role in overseeing cost control, contract administration, and the commercial performance of complex projects.
Role Overview:
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with MEP experience to play a leading role in the delivery of some of the UK\’s largest secure and complex infrastructure projects based out of the Trafford Park office with travel to site as and when required. With an exciting pipeline of work, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key role working closely with the Regional Commercial Director and Management Team.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial, contractual and financial management to projects alongside the Project Lead. Their primary role will be to ensure project profit objectives and targets are met and cash is managed to maximise performance.
The successful candidate will be required to diligently apply proper contractual and commercial practices and carefully manage risk to maximise the financial effectiveness and profitability of the projects under their responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing pre and post-contract commercial advice to operational teams
- Leading negotiations with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
- Advising on and managing commercial risks across assigned projects
- Preparing and agreeing interim valuations and final accounts
- Managing subcontractor accounts and implementing robust change control processes
- Compiling monthly commercial reports and conducting contract reviews
- Supporting the production of management accounts and financial reporting
- Leading and developing a team, including Junior Quantity Surveyors
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute professional with demonstrable experience in the MEP sector and infrastructure delivery. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to lead and influence both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Significant experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level within the infrastructure sector
- Proven track record in MEP-focused commercial delivery
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly Options A, C, and E
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- High levels of initiative and problem-solving ability
- Committed to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to wider team goals
