Mechanical Delivery Lead / Senior Mechanical Project Engineer Water & Wastewater Treatment Projects

Location: North West England (Hybrid Site/Office-Based)

Our client is a leading engineering and infrastructure delivery organisation operating within the UK water sector. Due to continued growth across a major long-term framework, we are seeking both an experienced Mechanical Delivery Lead and Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects throughout the region.

These are exceptional opportunities for mechanically biased engineers with a strong background in the Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment sector to play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure projects from concept through procurement, installation, commissioning and handover. These roles play a key part in delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure projects during AMP8, the water industry's current five-year investment programme.

Working at the forefront of project delivery, engineering excellence and technical governance, they help ensure critical treatment assets are designed, procured, installed and commissioned to the highest standards. Their work directly contributes to improving water quality, protecting the environment, increasing network resilience and helping to secure reliable, sustainable water and wastewater services for communities both now and in the future.

About You

We are keen to speak with experienced Mechanical Engineers who have a proven track record delivering projects within:

  • Water Treatment
  • Wastewater Treatment
  • Utilities Infrastructure

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong mechanical engineering background within the water sector.
  • Experience delivering mechanical or MEICA packages on complex infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of pumps, process equipment, valves, penstocks, actuators and lifting systems.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and procurement activities.
  • Understanding of commissioning, FAT, SAT and equipment testing processes.
  • Familiarity with ATEX, DSEAR, HAZOP and relevant water industry standards.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead technical decision-making and drive project delivery performance.
  • Ability to / experience of, managing and mentoring junior staff.

Desirable

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience working on AMP programmes or UK water utility frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of United Utilities standards, WIMES specifications and MEICA delivery processes.
  • Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation.
