The predicted salary is between 45000 - 55000 Β£ per year.

Our Client has a requirement for a Mechanical Project Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Burham Kent.

Role Purpose: Reporting to the C&DL's and MEICA & Commissioning Manager, responsible for the coordination of MEICA design activities on allocated Southern Water projects, primarily within the Water Treatment Works (WTW) programme, from GW3 through to the start of delivery on site. The role will support project delivery, commissioning and subcontract management activities whilst ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with company procedures and specifications.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring your work is undertaken safely in accordance with Company Procedures, specifications, and good working practices.
  • Ensuring the smooth and efficient co-ordination of all MEICA design activities on allocated schemes from GW3 through to start of delivery on site, as specified by the Project C&DL.
  • Reporting of MEICA design activities and progress to the relevant C&DL, MEICA & Commissioning Manager and Area MEICA Managers.
  • Providing Technical & Quality support for Project Delivery Teams throughout the delivery of the scheme.
  • Providing subcontract management support during the scheme close out phase.
  • Technical input, review and selection of subcontract tenders, supplier specifications and scopes of work.
  • Coordinate, review and monitor design deliverables such as schedules, specifications and drawings.
  • Coordinate, review and monitor procurement deliverables such as free issue plant and equipment.
  • Liaison with design and procurement teams on all related issues and change control.
  • Review and monitoring of related project risks.
  • Review and monitoring of Services & Other Things to be Provided by the Employer.
  • Ensuring plant commissioning requirements are incorporated at design stage and assisting in Technical Governance.
  • Assisting in the review of design deliverables, including FDS, equipment and instrument lists, P&IDs, control philosophy and telemetry requirements.
  • Assisting in the review of Compliance & Commissioning Plans in conjunction with Project Delivery Teams.
  • Co-ordination and expediting of subcontractors during off-site manufacture.
  • Attending meetings as required.
  • Liaising with subcontractors regarding site deliverables and interfaces.
  • Assisting with reviews of MEICA subcontractors' Quality Plans and ITPs.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a Mechanical Project Engineer, MEICA Engineer or similar role.
  • Experience coordinating MEICA design activities across project lifecycles.
  • Experience reviewing design deliverables including schedules, specifications and drawings.
  • Experience supporting procurement activities, supplier reviews and subcontract tender evaluations.
  • Knowledge of commissioning requirements and technical governance processes.
  • Experience working with FDS, equipment and instrument lists, P&IDs, control philosophies and telemetry requirements.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors during off-site manufacture and delivery phases.
  • Experience reviewing Quality Plans and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Previous water industry experience is essential.
  • Experience working on Water Treatment Works (WTW) projects is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience delivering projects for Southern Water or within a Southern Water framework environment would be advantageous.
