Our client has a requirement for a Principal EICA Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester.
Role Purpose:
To lead or support the delivery of Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) design and engineering activities across a range of water sector projects. The role will ensure technical excellence, compliance with client and regulatory standards, and contribute to successful project outcomes.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Produce cost-effective, specification-compliant design documentation suitable for procurement, installation, and commissioning
- Develop outline electrical, instrumentation, and control designs
- Conduct site surveys and attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), producing relevant reports
- Ensure all designs meet project specifications and quality standards
- Manage work allocation and delivery against project timelines
- Provide EC&I technical input, including preparation, checking, and approval of documentation
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, legislation, and client/company standards
- Prepare equipment/material requisitions and installation scopes of work
- Review supplier quotations and compile technical bid assessments
- Support construction and commissioning phases on site
- Undertake high voltage (HV) system design as required
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (Apprenticeships may also be considered)
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working toward)
- Over 15 years\’ experience in engineering within the water or similar sectors
- Strong knowledge of UK legislation and WIMES standards
- Experience with equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX)
- Familiarity with CE marking requirements including ATEX, PED, LVD, Machinery Directive, and EMC compliance
- Knowledge of HSE and risk management practices
- Strong understanding of design practices and installation requirements
