I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation delivering critical power transmission and substation projects across the UK.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Manager for energy infrastructure projects, playing a key role in the commissioning and energisation of high-voltage electrical systems.

The Role

You will lead and manage commissioning activities across major transmission and substation installations, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies, procedures, and execution plans.
  • Lead commissioning activities across HV, EHV, and transmission systems.
  • Manage pre-commissioning, cold commissioning, hot commissioning, and energisation activities.
  • Coordinate interfaces between engineering, construction, operations, and client teams.
  • Ensure commissioning programmes are delivered on schedule and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout testing, system integration, and project handover.

About You

You will have:

  • Previous experience in a Commissioning Manager or senior commissioning leadership role.
  • Proven delivery experience on HV, EHV, or UHV transmission and substation projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical transmission infrastructure and commissioning processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage complex commissioning programmes within a major project environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status desirable.
