New Job Opportunity - GD Technician - 6 Month PAYE Contract - Based in Carrington, Manchester.
Our Client has a requirement for a GD Technician who will be required to work on a Contract basis in Manchester.
Location: Carrington, Manchester (with travel across North West sites)
Contract Length: 6 Months
Hours: Flexible start and finish times, potential overtime
The Role
The GD Technician plays a vital, hands-on role in keeping our production facilities safe, tidy, compliant, and serviceable. This is a practical maintenance and site support position focused on preventative maintenance, housekeeping, safety compliance, and supporting the mechanical maintenance team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This role requires flexibility, independence, and a proactive attitude, with the expectation to travel between Our client's sites across the Northwest as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general preventative maintenance across plant and equipment
- Maintain production areas in a safe, clean, and serviceable condition
- Support corrective maintenance and breakdown activities alongside the Mechanical Maintenance team
- Ensure compliance with site statutory, mechanical integrity, and preventative maintenance programmes
- Conduct routine housekeeping and safety checks across the site
- Assist with spare parts and consumables inventory management
- Oversee LOLER and PUWER inspections onsite
- Operate forklift truck/telehandler as required
- Respond to site requests during and occasionally outside normal working hours
- Travel to other Our Client's sites within the Northwest to provide support when required
- Always adhere to our client's strict safety standards
What We're Looking For
- Experience working in an industrial or plant maintenance environment
- Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and at pace under pressure
- Good interpersonal and team-working skills
- Comfortable working across multiple sites and travelling frequently
- Self-motivated, reliable, and flexible with working hours
Essential Requirements
- GCSE Maths, English and Science (Grade C or equivalent experience)
- Clean, valid UK Driving Licence (regular travel required across Northwest sites)
- Valid FLT (Forklift Truck) Licence
- IPAF certification (including ladder inspections)
- Experience operating in industrial environments
- Understanding of site safety and compliance standards
