Our client is seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator / Field Engineer to support the planning, coordination and safe delivery of construction activities within a highly regulated project environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with strong temporary works experience to play a key role in work planning, technical coordination, quality assurance and site safety, ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.

Role Purpose

As a Temporary Works Coordinator / Field Engineer, you will provide specialist field engineering support across construction planning, temporary works management, material control, quantity verification, quality assurance and subcontractor coordination. You will be responsible for ensuring temporary works are properly designed, installed, inspected and dismantled in accordance with approved requirements, while promoting the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance throughout project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review construction drawings, sketches and engineering documentation.
  • Support the development of construction work packs, schedules and installation methodologies.
  • Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Assist with the design and coordination of temporary construction facilities.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and maintenance of as-built documentation.
  • Raise material requisitions and support procurement activities for site requirements.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs for field-purchased materials and equipment.
  • Verify quantities using project tracking systems and databases.
  • Promote and maintain a zero-harm safety culture across all construction activities.
  • Ensure tools, equipment and work practices comply with project safety requirements.
  • Contribute to Temporary Works Design Briefs and construction planning activities.
  • Coordinate the erection, loading, inspection and removal of temporary works.
  • Ensure temporary works are installed, used and dismantled in accordance with approved designs.
  • Coordinate the issue of Permits to Load.
  • Carry out regular inspections and maintain records of temporary works activities.
  • Ensure documented safe systems of work are in place and actively implemented.
  • Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Coordinate subcontractor documentation reviews and technical submissions.
  • Support system turnover and package completion activities where required.
  • Drive continuous improvement and professional development across project activities.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Previous experience working within a highly regulated or operational environment.
  • Proven experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator.
  • Strong understanding of temporary works procedures, inspections and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting construction planning, field engineering and work packaging activities.
  • Ability to prepare and review RAMS and construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes, inspection regimes and subcontractor management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • SMSTS qualification is essential.
  • Familiarity with TG20 and SG4 guidance is desirable.
  • IOSH qualification would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience on major infrastructure, nuclear or industrial construction projects is desirable.
  • Experience working on large, complex project sites is highly beneficial.
  • CSCS Black Card (or equivalent) is desirable.
