Our Client has a requirement for an Electrical Design Checker, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Birchwood, Warrington.

Role Purpose: To act as a client-side Electrical Design Checker within my clients Maritime division, reviewing engineering design deliverables produced by external design houses. The role ensures all electrical designs are compliant with applicable engineering standards, client requirements, and industry regulations. This is a design assurance position rather than a design production role.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Review and check electrical engineering drawings and design documentation (PDF format)
  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical engineering standards and client specifications
  • Identify design errors, omissions, inconsistencies, and non-conformances
  • Provide clear, structured technical comments and review feedback
  • Act on behalf of the client/owner in a technical assurance capacity
  • Liaise with stakeholders and external design contractors to resolve technical queries
  • Ensure all designs are suitable for maritime application and execution

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Strong Electrical Engineering background
  • Proven experience in design checking, design review, or engineering assurance roles
  • Experience within safety-critical and regulated industries
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering standards and compliance requirements
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation (PDF-based reviews)
  • Experience within Maritime / Marine, Offshore Oil & Gas, or Onshore Oil & Gas preferred
  • Ability to work independently as a technical authority and make sound engineering judgements
