Are you an experienced Construction Manager ready to take your career to the next level? We are looking for a dynamic Construction Manager to join our team in London & Guildford, with exciting hybrid working options, to lead an important water project.

Role Purpose

The Construction Manager will lead and manage construction delivery teams to ensure all works are delivered safely, compliantly, on time, and within approved budgets. The role has full responsibility for Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability compliance across all construction activities, while driving quality, innovation, and performance across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Construction & Delivery
    • Lead and manage site construction teams across designated portfolios to deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
    • Facilitate construction kick-off meetings and lead regular project health checks.
    • Ensure construction activities comply fully with contractual requirements and scheme deliverables.
  • Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability
    • Take full responsibility for H&S compliance across all construction activities.
    • Foster a strong safety culture where teams feel empowered to raise concerns.
    • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and construction health & safety legislation.
    • Drive zero-waste initiatives and reduction of embodied carbon in construction activities.
  • Supply Chain & Quality
    • Manage and monitor supplier performance in relation to Safety, Time, and Quality.
    • Review and approve RAMS, ensuring they are suitable, sufficient, and compliant.
    • Lead Constructability Reviews, Project Rehearsals, and Fit for Assembly sign-off.
  • Commercial & Programme Management
    • Ensure site teams raise contractual and commercial notices accurately and on time.
    • Monitor project programmes and support corrective actions where required.
    • Work with the Lead Construction Manager to plan short- and long-term resource needs (labour, plant, materials).
  • Leadership & Innovation
    • Motivate and manage multi-disciplinary teams to achieve time, cost, and quality objectives.
    • Promote standardisation and innovative construction techniques to drive efficiency and performance.
    • Maintain best practice standards and support continuous improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • Qualifications & Professional Credentials
    • Degree (or equivalent) in a construction-related discipline.
    • Temporary Works experience and/or qualification.
    • APMP or equivalent project management qualification.
  • Experience
    • Proven experience delivering large-scale construction programmes.
    • Strong background in water / wastewater treatment projects.
    • Experience managing and monitoring complex project programmes.
    • Demonstrable leadership of multi-disciplinary construction teams.
  • Knowledge & Competencies
    • Strong working knowledge of CDM regulations and construction Health & Safety.
    • Commercially astute with experience managing contractual obligations.
    • Delivery-focused with the ability to set and achieve performance targets.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, stakeholders, and end users.
    • Strategic, operational, technical, and managerial capability.
