Role Overview:

Responsible for the inspection and oversight of cranes and lifting equipment on a nuclear construction site, ensuring compliance with LOLER, PUWER, and project safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect cranes (mobile, tower, crawler, overhead), MEWPs, HiAbs, telehandlers, and lifting accessories.
  • Ensure compliance with LOLER, PUWER, BS 7121, and site-specific lifting procedures.
  • Review and validate lift plans, RAMS, and equipment certifications.
  • Maintain inspection records and report findings with recommendations.
  • Liaise with lifting teams, contractors, and safety personnel.
  • Support incident investigations and QA audits.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education: HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or NVQ Level 3 equivalent.

Certifications: LEEA (Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent); CPCS/NPORS Appointed Person (desirable).

Experience:

  • 5+ years inspecting cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of LOLER/PUWER.
  • Experience with HiAbs, MEWPs, and various crane types.

Additional Requirements:

  • Nuclear clearance (or ability to obtain).
  • CSCS card required.
  • Physically fit and able to access elevated/confined areas.
  • Flexible with working hours and shifts.
