Join a major long-term infrastructure project in Manchester where you'll take real ownership on site and play a key role in delivering high-profile civils works. Our Client has a requirement for a Site Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester.

Role Purpose: Reporting directly to the Senior Engineer, this role is responsible for ensuring that construction projects are delivered safely, accurately, and efficiently. You will support delivery operations within a specific discipline (e.g. roadworks), ensuring all elements are completed in line with design specifications, required quality standards, programme timelines, and budget constraints, while maintaining full compliance with applicable regulations and standards. The role may include an initial mobilisation phase (circa 3–5 months), followed by a construction period of approximately three years. Post-construction support for handover into operations may also be required.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Ensure site surveys and records are completed and maintained as required.
  • Prioritise health and safety at all times.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site managers, supervisors, and suppliers to coordinate and review safe systems of work and daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, production reports, and photographic evidence.
  • Ensure permits, RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), and QA documentation are prepared, in place, and completed in a timely manner.
  • Review drawings and raise technical queries with the design team where necessary.
  • Promote a “Right First Time” approach to minimise rework and ensure high quality output.
  • Work in line with short-term programmes and sequencing aligned to the overall project plan.
  • Champion health, safety, sustainability, and environmental best practices.
  • Drive efficiency, productivity improvements, and continuous improvement across the team.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Essential Civil Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, BSc, MSc, BEng, or MEng)
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects in a site-based role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive, proactive, and solutions-focused attitude
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong commitment to quality and delivering high standards

Desirable:

  • Experience working on similar types of construction or infrastructure projects
  • Appointed Person (lifting operations) qualification
  • Mental Health First Aid certification
  • Fire Marshal training
  • First Aid certification
  • Professionally qualified or actively working towards a recognised professional qualification
