Power up your career by leading complex electrical infrastructure upgrades on one of the UK's most high-profile industrial networks! Our Client has a requirement for an Electrical Power Systems Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Warrington/Hybrid.

Role Purpose: Act as a technical specialist in power and protection, supporting the wider design team on critical infrastructure upgrades. Lead the digital modelling of electrical networks to ensure system reliability and safety. Ensure all electrical designs and calculations comply with stringent industry engineering standards and best practices.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain detailed project ETAP models for complex electrical networks.
  • Produce accurate fault calculations (BS EN 60909) and comprehensive protection reports.
  • Conduct arc flash risk assessments to ensure operational safety during maintenance and faults.
  • Design and upgrade 11kV and 400V substations, specifically focusing on aging assets.
  • Perform unit protection calculations, including differential and high-impedance schemes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards and site-specific safety practices.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Strong working knowledge of BS EN 60909 Fault Calculations.
  • Proficiency in power distribution modelling software (specifically ETAP).
  • Extensive experience with Protection and Control systems at both 11kV and 400V.
  • Proven track record in substation design and electrical infrastructure upgrades.
  • Experience with unit protection calculations (differential & high-impedance).

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of IEC61850 and power system SCADA interfaces.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as Trimble, ERACS, or Digsilent.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards it).
