- Senior Electrical Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in
Manchester .
Role Purpose
- Provide technical electrical engineering expertise across multiple infrastructure projects.
- Support the development, review and delivery of electrical connection solutions.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure effective project progression and successful outcomes.
- Deliver high-quality engineering documentation and design support.
- Assist with the assessment, prioritisation and delivery of multiple site connection requirements.
Job Role Responsibilities
- Provide electrical discipline technical input to distribution network connection projects across multiple sites.
- Review load demand information, including charger numbers, charger types and k VA requirements, and translate this into electrical connection requirements.
- Develop and check electrical requirements for network connections, typically involving 11/0.4k V transformer-coupled RMUs and LV feeder pillars.
- Prepare and review electrical engineering documentation including load schedules, single line diagrams, equipment specifications, datasheets, cable schedules and associated design information.
- Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and project stakeholders to support new electrical connections and capacity upgrades.
- Review connection requirements and offers, identifying technical constraints, key actions and information required to progress applications.
- Support and advise on DNO connection applications and capacity upgrade requirements.
- Provide technical input relating to electrical distribution networks, transformer arrangements, RMUs and LV feeder pillars.
- Carry out electrical load assessments and develop associated connection requirements.
- Support the assessment and prioritisation of multiple sites and connection options.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications
- Relevant electrical engineering qualification (Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent). Apprenticeship routes may also be considered.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with a relevant professional body, or evidence of working towards professional registration.
- Good knowledge of electrical design and installation practices relevant to DNO connections and electrical infrastructure.
- Experience preparing or supporting DNO connection applications and electrical connection studies.
- Experience with LV and HV electrical distribution systems, including 11/0.4k V transformer arrangements, RMUs and LV feeder pillars.
- Experience undertaking electrical load assessments and translating load requirements into connection and equipment requirements.
- Experience managing multiple sites or projects simultaneously and prioritising activities effectively.
- Strong understanding of UK legislation, standards and electrical safety requirements.
- Experience working with DNOs, clients, consultants and other project stakeholders.
- Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and HSE requirements.
