Due to continued business growth, First Marine Solutions have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Marine Operative to join the team based in Ferryden, Montrose on a full time, permanent basis.
Responsible for assisting in the management, preparation, mobilisation, demobilisation and refurbishment of Mooring Equipment components utilising mechanical and manual handling methods and assisting Chain Inspection Services as necessary. The successful candidate will hold experience in a similar position, ideally within the Mooring / Marine Industry, be flexible in working hours, have the ability to handle heavy items (up to 20kg in accordance with Manual Handling requirements), be safety conscious with the ability to put safety at the forefront of tasks in a high pressured environment and hold Forklift (over 15tonne), Banksman / Slinger and Abrasive Wheels certification. Offshore Certification is preferred but not mandatory; however, candidates will be willing to develop into supporting offshore requirements in accordance with the company's development plans. On-call / unsociable working hours may be required during peak operations, increased rates apply.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring all equipment is maintained in accordance with company procedures and necessary standards.
- Assist the Operations Coordinator(s) as required with tasks such as ID number taking as required.
- Liaise with the Operations Coordinator(s) to ensure the Equipment Management System remains up to date and all equipment is ready to be mobilised.
- Assist in vessel loading / unloading at quayside / offsite, ensuring the company's Risk Assessments are adhered to as necessary.
- Carry out Spooling Operations as required.
- Ensure yard equipment maintenance is carried out in accordance with company procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rota and support unsociable hours operations as necessary.
- Participate in Toolbox Talks, Operational and HSEQ Meetings as required.
- Assist to communicate with the Operations Coordinator(s) to ensure all yard consumables and tools remain at an acceptable stock level in order to support upcoming operations.
- Complete relevant mobilisation and demobilisation paperwork ensuring a high level of accuracy to support the equipment management process.
- Ensure electrical tools are calibrated as necessary prior to utilising, raising any requirements to the Operations Coordinator(s) to arrange for re-calibration.
- Assist to update Risk Assessments as necessary.
- Assist to carry out Magnetic Particle Inspections (MPI) as necessary.
- Assist with vessel operations offshore as required (UKCS & Internationally).
- Supervise local Chain Inspection services as necessary.
- Carry out supporting roles for Chain Inspection services such as UHP Water Jetting and / or Manual Handling.
- Assist with any other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Previous experience within a similar position, ideally within the Mooring / Marine Industry
- Manual Handling Training
- Abrasive Wheels Training / Awareness
- Banksman / Slinger Certification
- B3 Forklift Certification (over 15 Tonnes)
- Spooling Machine Operations experience
