First Marine Solutions (FMS) are a service provider to the local and international renewables and oil & gas sectors specialising in the engineering, design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of mooring systems for floating platforms. FMS also specialise in the planning and undertaking of marine activities related to floating platforms such as towage, vessel loadouts, marine assurance, and assisting with location planning and consent. The Role: Due to continued business growth we are seeking an experienced Survey Engineer to join our team on a full time permanent basis, primarily based within Aberdeen with attendance offshore on an ad-hoc basis. The primary functions of this position are to ensure all equipment is prepared and tested for offshore project deployments. Responsible for the installation, successful operation and maintenance of First Marine Solutions and customer owned equipment on site the successful candidate will hold a minimum of 2 – 5 years ‘hands on’ experience in a survey orientated electronic or ICT role you will also have extension technical understanding and knowledge of the main survey equipment used in the offshore survey sector.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare, test and package equipment pre-deployment to First Marine Solutions standards and procedures.
  • As directed by Survey & Positioning Manager, liaise with equipment suppliers during execution of projects to ensure that all equipment requirements of the project are resourced correctly.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for all daily operations in the workshop.
  • Provide technical and operational support and troubleshooting to operations team and field staff.
  • Liaise daily with Operations team at the planning stage to specify the correct hardware and software to meet project and client expectations.
  • Assisting with international mobilisations/demobilisations as required.
  • Installation, integration, and commissioning of equipment on customer onshore and offshore sites.
  • Identify, through diagnostic fault-finding, issues with on-site equipment and issue fault reports.
  • Complete first-line repairs to equipment.
  • Ensure all deployed First Marine Solutions assets are maintained and operated in accordance with manufacturer, First Marine Solutions and contract parameters.
  • Track all First Marine Solutions assets, relevant to project, while deployed.
  • Maintain records of changes to setup / maintenance carried out whilst deployed.
  • Ensure that deployed equipment is stored correctly and safely, with all accessories.
  • Act as First Marine Solutions ambassador, displaying excellent customer service, positive attitude and fully participating in any client site schemes for Safety, Quality, etc. whilst deployed.
  • Package equipment returning from the vessel suitable for transport requirements and fully documented / accounted for, notifying First Marine Solutions of any known damages in advance.
  • Complete end of project reports, timesheets, and expense forms promptly upon return.
  • Participate in technical reviews of project & client requirements.
  • Assist to identify and mitigate potential equipment related technical and QHSE risks for assigned projects.
  • Proactively participate in seeking improvement to methodology and technology.
  • Assist Survey & Positioning Manager to implement and introduce necessary processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for the delegation of tasks to junior members of the team as well as training and development of team members.
  • Responsible for ensuring the workshop and warehouse environment meets all HSE requirements.
  • Administer and manage specific project or workshop tasks assigned by Survey & Positioning Manager.
  • Support business with out of hours working as required.
  • Assist with any other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • HNC or higher in Electronic or ICT discipline, or equivalent qualification or field experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years ‘hands on’ experience in a survey orientated electronic or ICT role.
  • Must have a full UK driving license.
  • Holds relevant offshore certification.
  • Extensive technical understanding and knowledge of the main survey equipment used in offshore survey sector.
  • Strong IT skills and good understanding of PC hardware.
  • Experience of working in field and offshore as a Survey Engineer.
  • Knowledge of Logistics and Customs.

Preferred:

  • Sufficient offshore experience.
  • Working knowledge of Oil & Gas and Renewable industries technical specifications and standards.
