A leading Tier 1 main contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support its growing workload within the Scottish power sector. The role will focus on the refurbishment and upgrade of existing substations across the Scottish network, delivering projects valued between £2-£25m, all operating under NEC contracts. This is a key commercial role, overseeing multiple live projects at any one time, working closely with operational teams, clients, and supply chain partners to ensure commercial performance, compliance, and value delivery.
Role Overview:
- Commercial management of multiple refurbishment projects across the power sector
- Full NEC contract administration (including cost control, compensation events, and forecasting)
- Cost planning, budgeting, and reporting across allocated projects
- Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and commercial performance
- Preparing and agreeing valuations, final accounts, and cost forecasts
- Supporting project teams with commercial advice and risk management
- Working collaboratively with clients and internal stakeholders
- Ensuring commercial governance and reporting standards are met
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (or strong Quantity Surveyor ready to step up)
- Experience working under NEC contracts
- Background in main contracting within construction or infrastructure
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Strong commercial awareness and contract management skills
- Experience within power, utilities, MEP, or electrical infrastructure would be beneficial but is not essential
- Candidates from a wider construction background with the right attitude, values, and work ethic are strongly encouraged to apply
